MACK S. PRICHARD FOUNDATION

Picture
The Mack S. Prichard Foundation was established in 2019 before Mack’s death. Mack was instrumental in the selection of board members and establishing the purpose of the Foundation. The Mission statement is, “… to engage in activities to protect and conserve the natural environment in Tennessee …” The specific objections are:
  1. to provide scholarships to students for environmental science-related degrees or wanting to become a State of Tennessee Park Ranger
  2. to support programming on public television and public radio that promotes protection of the environment
  3. to provide donations to purchase land for conservation
  4. to provide programming and education opportunities to encourage youth participation at Tennessee State Parks.

What's Happening?

Mack was a collector of all things important. His collections are housed at a variety of locations. The board is still in the process of placing his beloved items. Collections or displays can be viewed at several state parks. Radnor Lake State Park has a permanent display in the Visitor Center. Hobart Akin has designed a traveling display that is taken from state park to state park. Walker Library has a collection of Mack’s writings and other artifacts. Many of Mack’s slides are already housed at the Tennessee State Archives. Check back periodically for information about collections and where they can be viewed or access. We will keep this section updated as things change. Thank you for your interest!
